Video activity on the Close lead timeline

Send a personalized video campaign from Zidi and each recipient becomes a lead in Close, carrying a contact with their email address. Watching the video adds note activities to that lead, so the story of the video sits in the same feed as the calls and the emails your team already logs.

The audience is the Close-first sales team: people who work a single screen all day and want video engagement to arrive where they are, rather than in a dashboard they have to remember to check.

How to connect Close

  1. 1

Open the Close card in Zidi

Go to Integrations in your Zidi dashboard and choose Close. There is nothing to prepare in Close beforehand and no API key to generate.

  2. 2

    Approve access

Zidi sends you to Close to authorise the connection under your own user. Approve it and Close hands you straight back. Tokens are stored encrypted and refreshed on their own, so this is a one-time step.

  3. 3

    Launch a campaign

Your next campaign launch begins creating leads and writing activities. Nothing needs to be installed inside Close and no administrator has to deploy anything for you.

Syncing to Close is part of the Zidi Pro plan, checked on the server at the start of the connection, at the moment Close returns you, and before each write. Authorise with a user who can see and edit the leads you expect to sync, since Zidi acts as that user for everything it writes.

What syncs, and when

What happens in ZidiWhat appears in Close
Campaign launchedZidi looks for a lead whose contact carries the recipient's email address. If none exists it creates the lead with a contact holding that address, naming the lead after the company on your list when you supplied one and after the person when you did not. A note activity carries the personalized video link.
Recipient opens their video pageA note activity appears on the lead. Its text opens with “Zidi Video Engagement” and your campaign name, then records that they opened the personalized page and when.
Recipient finishes the video or clicks the call-to-actionA second note activity, opening with the same line, records the furthest point they reached, whether the button was pressed, and the run of milestones behind it.
Someone you know opens a directly shared videoA single note activity appears once they pass halfway and is rewritten in place at eighty per cent and at the end, so one viewing stays one entry. The lead must exist first; a shared view writes activities and creates nothing.

Close's note activities carry no subject line, so both notes are bodies whose first line reads “Zidi Video Engagement” — that is the string to search for, and the detail underneath is what tells the two apart. Matching is done on the email address, so a lead your team created by hand months ago is found rather than duplicated. Writes are queued instead of immediate, and campaign engagement is held briefly per recipient, which keeps a restless viewer from filling the timeline. Shared-link views are deduplicated per view and milestone rather than held. Only viewers Zidi can name reach Close: campaign recipients and people on tracked share links. Everyone else is counted in Zidi analytics alone.

Leads, contacts, and where Zidi puts things

Close models the account and Zidi respects that. A lead in Close is the organisation or the deal, and the people sit inside it as contacts, which is the opposite of the arrangement most CRMs use. Zidi therefore creates the lead and embeds a contact holding the recipient's email address, rather than trying to force a person-shaped record into a system that does not have one. When your campaign list carries a company the lead takes that name, so it files itself next to the rest of the account; when it does not, the lead is named after the person and you can rename it later without breaking anything, because matching is done on the email address rather than the label.

Everything Zidi reports is a note activity. It writes no calls, no meetings, no opportunities and no custom objects, so the shape of your pipeline is unchanged by the arrival of a video.

Turning watch data into a Smart View

The point of putting engagement in the activity feed is that Close can already search it. Once the notes are landing, a Smart View that looks for recent activity gives you the working list every video campaign should produce: the people who watched and have not been followed up. Because the note text spells out the percentage reached and whether the call-to-action was pressed, you can be as coarse or as precise as you like about what counts as interest, and you can do it without asking anybody to add a field or maintain a tag.

It also means nothing new has to be taught. A rep who can read a lead's timeline can read this, and a manager who lives in Smart Views does not need a second reporting surface to see whether the campaign worked. Zidi is already listed in Close's own integrations directory, so the connection is one your team can find from either side.

Close integration questions

Which Zidi plan includes it?

Close syncing sits on the Zidi Pro plan and the check is enforced by the server rather than the interface, at three separate moments: starting the connection, finishing it, and every write afterwards. Dropping off Pro pauses the writing and keeps the connection, so an upgrade later picks up where it left off.

Will Zidi create duplicate leads?

Not for people it can match. Every push begins with a search on the email address, and a lead is only created when that search comes back empty. Two recipients from the same company on the same list will normally resolve to whichever leads already hold their addresses, so the safest way to keep things tidy is to make sure the addresses in your campaign list are the ones Close knows.

Does anything come back from Close into Zidi?

No. Every write travels one way, from Zidi into Close. Zidi searches by email address to decide where an activity belongs and never imports your leads, browses your pipeline or copies anything back. Disconnecting deletes the tokens Zidi stored and leaves every activity it has already written untouched. Close publishes no endpoint for revoking a grant remotely, so to close the loop completely, remove Zidi from the connected apps list in your Close settings as well.

How many activities does one recipient generate?

Two at most from a campaign: one when they first open the page, one when they finish or press the button. The intermediate milestones are named inside the second note instead of each producing a write of their own, which is what keeps a lead's feed readable. A directly shared video adds one more activity, rewritten as the viewer passes each threshold.

What does the sales team have to change?

Nothing. There is no field to add, no custom activity type to define and no view to rebuild, because Zidi writes ordinary note activities into the feed reps already read. The only new habit worth forming is checking a Smart View for recent video activity before the next round of follow-up.
