Record the training once, and deliver it in the learner's language
Most training content is a person explaining a screen. The expensive part is never the first recording; it is the second language, the third, and the update six months later when the interface changes. Zidi records the session, writes the subtitles, translates them, and can dub the speech into another language with an AI voice.
This page is for learning and development teams, customer educators and teachers who make their own material. It separates what is included in every plan from what needs a paid plan or credits, explains how to check the output before learners see it, and says plainly what Zidi leaves to your LMS.
One lesson, several languages: the workflow
Record the lesson in the language you teach in
Record your screen, your camera or both in Chrome. Paid plans record up to 2 hours in one take and can also upload a lesson you made elsewhere, as MP4, MOV, AVI or WebM. Speak a little slower than feels natural; every later step depends on a clean voice track.
Let Zidi transcribe it, then correct the transcript
Zidi detects the spoken language and produces subtitles and a timestamped transcript. Open Edit Subtitles and fix product names, acronyms and numbers, because a mistake here is copied into every translation that follows.
Translate the subtitles
Choose a target language and Zidi translates the subtitle cues. Subtitle translation is advertised for 91 languages and is included in every plan. The translated cues can be reviewed and edited line by line, and exported as an SRT file.
Dub the languages that need a voice
AI dubbing replaces the spoken track with speech in one of 29 languages, with an optional voice-cloning setting so the dubbed voice resembles the original speaker. A video holds one dubbed track, so each extra language is dubbed on its own copy of the video. Dubbing needs Starter or Pro and uses credits: 20 for each minute of the source video.
Review with someone who speaks the language
Have a native speaker watch each dubbed copy and read each translated subtitle file before release. AI handles everyday instructions well and can stumble on jargon, names and humour. Budget the review; it is the step that protects your credibility.
Publish, and find out who finished
Share by link, embed the player in your LMS or intranet page, or download the MP4 on a paid plan. Learners also get an AI summary with key points and timestamped chapters on Starter and Pro, and analytics show how much of the lesson people actually watch.

Credits are bought in packs and are separate from the subscription: 300 for $29, 800 for $49, 1,800 for $99. They never expire, and no plan includes a monthly credit allowance.
Subtitles or dubbing: which one a lesson needs
Translated subtitles are the right default. They cost nothing beyond your plan, they are quick to check, and they keep the instructor's real voice, which matters when tone carries the teaching. For software training, where the learner's eyes are already on the interface, reading a line of text at the bottom of the frame is rarely a burden.
Dubbing earns its cost in three situations. The first is hands-busy work, such as a safety procedure or a machine setup, where the learner cannot read and do at once. The second is an audience that reads the subtitle language slowly, including younger learners. The third is material you want to feel native, such as a leadership welcome message, where a voice in the learner's own language signals that the company made an effort.
You do not have to choose once for the whole library. A common pattern is subtitles in every language you support and dubbing only in the two or three languages with the most learners, as one dubbed copy of the lesson per language. Because subtitles and dubbing are made from the same corrected transcript, fixing the source text first improves both.
What dubbing costs, with real numbers
Dubbing is charged at 20 credits for each minute of the source video, per language. A video holds one dubbed track at a time, and a second language needs Remove Dubbing first or its own copy of the video, so plan on one copy of the lesson per language. A 10-minute lesson uses 200 credits for one language and 600 credits for three copies in three languages. The smallest pack, 300 credits for $29, covers about 15 minutes of dubbing; 800 credits cost $49 and 1,800 cost $99, which brings the cost of a dubbed minute down to roughly $1.10.
Credits are taken only when a job succeeds. If a dub fails, nothing is charged and you can run it again. Zidi checks that you hold enough credits before a job starts. Videos up to 2 hours can be dubbed.
Plan the budget per course, not per video. A one-hour course dubbed into two languages, as two copies, needs 2,400 credits, which one 1,800-credit pack and one 800-credit pack cover with 200 to spare. Subtitle translation for the same course, in any number of languages, adds nothing to the bill. AI voice change, which replaces the speaking voice with a different AI voice, is a Pro feature at 10 credits a minute.
Voices, consent and where the audio is processed
Voice cloning makes the dubbed track sound like the person who recorded the lesson. That person should know and agree. Get written consent from an instructor before you clone their voice, keep it with the course records, and treat a colleague's voice as you would their photograph. This is your responsibility as the publisher, and in some countries it is also a legal requirement.
AI features rely on outside providers, among them AssemblyAI for transcription and subtitles, ElevenLabs for dubbing and voice, and OpenAI for subtitle translation, summaries and chat. The privacy policy carries the full list of sub-processors. Your audio and transcript are sent to them so that the feature can run. The policy describes encryption in transit and at rest.
If your organisation needs a written statement on a specific point, for example whether content is used to train AI models, or a named compliance certificate, ask privacy@zidi.ai before you upload regulated material. The public site does not state a SOC 2, ISO 27001 or HIPAA certification, and it is better to get the answer in writing than to assume.
What Zidi does not do
- There is no SCORM or xAPI export, no quizzes, no certificates and no course structure. Zidi makes and hosts the video; your LMS runs the course.
- Analytics show how much was watched. Naming each learner needs a per-person tracked link, and Zidi does not pass completion data to an LMS.
- Dubbing covers 29 languages and subtitle translation 91. A language outside those lists is not supported.
- A video holds one dubbed track. Each dubbed language needs its own copy of the video.
- AI subtitles, translations and dubbed speech can be wrong, especially with jargon, names, strong accents or noisy audio. Review every language before release.
- Recording needs Chrome or another Chromium browser on a computer. Learners can watch on any modern browser, including on a phone.
- No plan includes monthly dubbing credits. Every credit comes from a pack you buy.
- Subtitles are burned into the video when you export it, and exporting needs Starter or Pro. On the video's share page, every viewer gets the transcript.
Training & Education questions
Which training features are free, and which need a paid plan?
AI subtitles, the transcript, subtitle translation and filler-word removal are included in every plan, Free included, although Free recordings stop at 5 minutes. Uploads, downloads, AI summaries, chapters and chat need Starter or Pro. Dubbing needs Starter or Pro plus credits, and AI voice change needs Pro plus credits.
How much does it cost to dub a training video?
Dubbing uses 20 credits for each minute of the original video, for each language. Packs cost $29 for 300 credits, $49 for 800 and $99 for 1,800, and credits never expire. A 10-minute lesson in one extra language therefore uses 200 credits. A failed job is not charged.
Can the dubbed version sound like our own instructor?
Yes. Dubbing has a voice-cloning option that makes the new track resemble the original speaker, in any of the 29 dubbing languages, one language per copy of the video. Ask the instructor for written consent first. Without the option, Zidi uses a natural AI voice, which some teams prefer because it avoids the consent question entirely.
How do we check a translation we cannot read ourselves?
Correct the source transcript first, then export each translated subtitle file as SRT and send it to a native speaker, or have them watch the video and note the timestamps that need work. You can edit any line and its timing in Edit Subtitles. Do the same listening check for every dubbed language.
Can we put Zidi videos inside our LMS?
Usually, yes. Copy the iframe embed code from the Share dialog into any LMS page that accepts custom HTML, or paste the share link. On Starter and Pro you can download the MP4 and upload it as a file. Zidi does not export SCORM or xAPI packages and does not report completions to the LMS.
Is there a limit on how long a training video can be?
Recordings stop at 5 minutes on Free and at 2 hours on Starter and Pro, with a warning shortly before the limit, and the recording is saved, not lost. Uploaded files can be up to 2 GB on Starter and 5 GB on Pro. Dubbing and voice change accept videos up to 2 hours.
