Video prospecting
Using short recorded messages in outbound sales, usually to earn a first reply from someone who has not spoken to you before.
Video prospecting is the use of short recordings in outbound sales, most often at the top of a sequence where the goal is a reply rather than a meeting. It works on the same principle as any good cold outreach — proving quickly that the message is for this person — and video proves it faster than text because the viewer can see that somebody made something.
The effective form is short, specific and tied to a trigger. A recording sent because the prospect visited a pricing page, changed jobs, or sat in a demo has a reason to exist; one sent because they appeared on a list does not, and viewers can tell the difference within seconds.
The usual failure is scale ambition. A rep who records two hundred videos produces two hundred bad ones, because the only way to sustain that volume is a script read from a page. Twenty recordings to twenty people who each triggered something outperform them comfortably.
Measurement is what separates this from ordinary outreach. Because a video page reports how far each recipient watched, a team can tell the difference between a message that was ignored and one that was watched to the end and still did not earn a reply. Those are different problems: the first is an opening, the second is an ask.
Volume is where this practice usually goes wrong, and the damage is not limited to the videos. Sending recordings to a large unqualified list produces the same complaints and spam reports as any other bulk outreach, and the sending domain carries the consequences long after the campaign is forgotten. Treat the recording as the expensive part it is and send fewer.
In Zidi
Zidi sends prospecting videos as personalised pages and reports what each recipient did with theirs, and those views can be written onto the contact record in eight CRMs.
