Video landing page
A web page built around one video, where the recording is the content rather than an element on a longer page.
A video landing page is a page whose purpose is one video. The recording is the content; whatever else appears — a title, a short description, a button — exists to frame it. This is what a share link opens in most video messaging tools.
It differs from an embedded video, which sits inside a page about something else, and from a file, which the recipient has to download and open in whatever player their computer prefers. The landing page removes the download and gives the sender control over the surrounding context.
The page is also where measurement becomes possible. A downloaded file reports nothing; a page reports arrival, watch time, completion and any button clicks. Anything a sender wants to know about what happened to a video is a property of the page rather than the recording.
Access control belongs here too. A page can be password-protected or restricted, which a file circulating by email cannot be once it has been forwarded.
These pages have an ambiguous relationship with search, and it is worth deciding deliberately. A page built for one recipient should not be indexed, because it exists for one person and adds nothing to a search result. A page holding a public explainer might reasonably be indexed, in which case the title, the description and a transcript on the page all start to matter in the ordinary way.
Access and expiry deserve a decision rather than a default. A page holding commercially sensitive material should be protected and reviewed; a page holding a public explainer should stay open and stable, because a link that stops working is worse than one that was never shared. Deciding which kind each page is takes a moment and prevents both mistakes.
In Zidi
Every Zidi recording becomes a page with its own link, and pages can be password-protected. Viewers watch and can press the call-to-action, and the page carries a discussion thread, though posting in it requires signing in to Zidi.
